QNU Hosted 2024 China-US Youth Exchange Camp (Fujian) : Quanzhou Maritime Silk Road Cultural Tour

From July 12 to 15, QNU successfully hosted the 2024 China-U.S. Youth Exchange Camp (Fujian)—Quanzhou Maritime Silk Road Cultural Tour, welcoming a delegation of four Chinese-American teachers and students from Cleveland, Ohio.

During a welcome ceremony held at the university, the participants immersed themselves in the art of Chinese calligraphy and tried their hand at traditional skills such as Chinese diabolo.

During their stay, the visiting teachers and students engaged in observational exchanges at Quanzhou Jinguang Primary School. There, they experienced hands-on traditional crafts, includingQuanzhou Hairpin flower, pottery, Kung Fu fan and Zhuanggaoren—the traditional dough figurine art. The cultural itinerary featured field trips to iconic historical and cultural sites, such as the ancient Luoyang Bridge, the Quanzhou Southern Shaolin Temple, the Wudianshi traditional blocks, and the Quanzhou Puppet Theater. These visits showcased intangible cultural heritage performances, including Chinese martial arts and puppet shows. Participants also sampled local delicacies along Zhongshan Road, watched giant pandas at the Maritime Silk Road Wildlife Zoo, and toured a private enterprise in Jinjiang, gaining insights into the local economic landscape.
